COP19 (20/11/13) – Rachel Hunter, Communications Manager at Carbon Clear explains what her company does in Darfur.

Through NGO Practical Action, Carbon Clear offers a micro credit scheme to villagers in the region for them to be able to purchase low carbon and more efficient cooking stoves.

Carbon Clear sells carbon credits to private companies to finance the micro credit scheme.

Hunter says this helps to not only improve the health of people in Darfur because the smoke from tradition stoves are so damaging, but also empowers women in the local communities as it frees up their time to get an education.
